Xiaolin (宀/ HKG ) isa producer, vinyl-leaning DJ and liveartist with a curiousear and naturalmusicality, exploringsound and movement inits limitless forms.The宀residentspecialises in takinglisteners on apatiently-buildingjourney driven bywarmth, emotion andgroove, moving through arange of genres linkedseamlessly by bodyrhythms, crunchytextures and richmelodies.Her trippy HEX nightswelcome internationalguests such as Closet Yi, Jesse You, Oliver Hafenbauer,Polygonia, Maara, Peach, Mary Lake, Merve and Joe Delon.Xiaolin spent a decade studying classical violin, jazz andelectronic composition abroad where she played in Batucada/Latinbands and began collecting records. Influenced by sounds from theUS and UK underground scenes between the 80’s-early 00’s and alove for video games, anime, nature as well as Cantonese culture,her analog synth-heavy productions range from feel-good acid,euphoric progressive house, tripped-out electro and shimmeringtechno to raw downtempo ambience that invoke deeper feelings ofromantic adventure with a theatrical touch.Aside from compilation tracks on 20/20 Vision (Exit Planet Earth),Klasse Wrecks, Fufu, Polychrome and Other Goodness, Xiaolin’s twoEPs on宀Records received support from BBC Radio 1, BBCIntroducing in the West and Mixmag Asia. Her first audio-visuallive show “The Space Between Us”, was premiered at Sound FormsFestival in Hong Kong, with an extended 90-minute original liveset debuting at Wonderfruit Festival 2023 to critical acclaim.Upcoming releases include 3 EPs on Berlin label SoundMetaphors’ “Bless You” imprint, in addition to two VA’s TBA.Xiaolin’s December Baihui Radio show “HEX w/ Xiaolin (vinyl mix)”was featured by RA as “Mix Of The Day” (26/12/2023).
