As a region, Southeast Asia plays host to a colourful electronic music scene, rich with diverse sounds, landscapes and audiences. In recent years, cross-pollination and collaboration have become important facets of this scene, with inspiration and energy transmitting regularly between cities and crews. Central to many of these exchanges has been Bangkok-based DJ, producer and label-head Sunju Hargun whose distinctive & diverse blend of ambient, IDM, deep acid, psychedelic techno, trance and raw b-sides from the unknown have seen him grace clubs and festivals all the way from Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, India, Vietnam and onwards into Panorama Bar, Horst Festival and Breakfast Club in Europe.
His sound today bridges the gap between electronic music from the past and its future and a culmination of his many influences over the years. It’s also the result of personal experiences he’s had playing long all-nighters in intimate spaces, Jungles in Thailand, Cave raves in Vietnam to clubs and festvals in Japan – all of which are proud to have him as a regular.
Apart from heavily touring in the circuit, His labour-of love projects Karma Klique & Siamese Twins Records, also finds a solid foundation in pan-Asian connections. The label itself is a platform to explore old-world chants and ceremonial percussion which hosts many of Sunju’s own works, including east-inspired acid made as Mogambo and wildly meditative music as Khun Fluff.
Sunju believes that over the years he has been constantly evolving & naturally working his way into people’s consciousness and hearts, Leaving a mysterious impression, a spark of emotion and a long-lasting memory.
