About
Manila-based DJs Shrugs and Nomoclassiq couldn’t tell you who between them asked “wanna hop on?” to b2b at one afterparty, but both of them can say that that’s how Moving Parts started.
Tethered by a shared love of 90s house and RnB, they founded the project as an interpretation of gratitude to the sounds and imagery they grew up on. Each set is an opportunity to reflect on the music that shaped them, pulling inspiration from once-forgotten Donell Jones anthems to modern expressions of deep, heady thumpers.
This heartfelt but easy perspective is on full display in their club nights, as a means to welcome anyone to an all-smiles, all-footwork party programmed with DJs from Manila’s vivid array of musical circles.
The goodwill and support they’ve received in their home city has pushed them to share their perspective elsewhere in the world, lining up appearances in festivals like Wonderfruit and Equation with more dates on the horizon. Needless to say, Moving Parts is set for an exciting year ahead.
